The power of pink

Pink is most commonly associated with compassion, nurturing and love. A combination of red and white, pink embodies the characteristics of both these colours, each balancing the other; the passion and power of red is softened by the purity of white. The deeper the pink, the more passion and energy it exhibits.

Pink is also seen as feminine, romantic, affectionate and intimate, but can also be intuitive and insightful.

In colour psychology, pink is a sign of hope and positivity. If pink was a ‘thing’ it would be a big cuddle from a friend or loved one at the end of a long day.

Mellow yellow?

The colour yellow is often associated with logic and also mental stimulation. Being around the colour yellow is said to be uplifting, and provides hope, cheerfulness and fun, as well as encouraging creativeness and productivity.

For many, yellow is associated with summer and the warmth that comes from holidays, long balmy evenings and adventures with friends and family.

Green for nature

Green is the colour most often associated with nature and is a colour that relates to growth, renewal and rebirth. Many colour psychologists believe green can ground us, whilst providing an environment where we can retreat from the modern world – which explains why so many of us add plants and greenery to our homes.

Green is an emotionally positive colour, inspiring us to love and nurture ourselves and the world around us.

Pure white

The colour white is most commonly associated with purity and simplicity, whilst the psychological meaning relates to innocence, wholeness and completion.

In colour psychology white is a blank canvas waiting to be written upon. While white isn’t stimulating to the senses, it opens the way for the creation of anything the mind can conceive.

White is also an equal balance of all the colours of the spectrum, representing both the positive and negative aspects of all colours. In doing so white is the perfect partner for all other colours, providing them with a backdrop to shine against.
